The Centre for English Language Development

In September of 2008, the University opened the Centre for English Language Development (CELD). This modern facility is equipped with bright classrooms which are outfitted with interactive whiteboards and wireless capabilities. The entire building is dedicated to English language programs and includes a student computer lab, lounge and dining area with wireless access. The Centre is conveniently located within minutes of the university campus and is surrounded by local shops and restaurants.

The UWindsor Advantage

Each Level of ELIP offers:

• Core Classes - integrated skills

Admission Requirements
The English Language Improvement Program requires entering students to have a minimum level of English competency. We do not require TOEFL or IELTS scores. Students participate in a language placement test to determine their level of ELIP. Successful completion of our final level of ELIP fulfills the EngLish proficiency requirements for our university and allows for direct entry into academic study granted that all other admission requirements have been met. This applies to both undergraduate and graduate studies.

Our staff are here to help you make the most of your English studies through intensive language learning, academic skill preparation and exciting social activities. We care about our students’ goals and are small enough to truly connect with each and every one of them. Come and experience Windsor. We look forward to meeting you.

Applications are welcomed from:

• Permanent residents who need to meet EngLish Language Proficiency for Academic Study;
• Second language learners who have been accepted to the University of Windsor and wish to further prepare themselves for their studies in an English-speaking
